The health and safety of our school community is a priority. Although there is no imminent threat to the health and safety of our school community, we want to share information and address a concern. We have recently received questions about the Carnival Cruise ship with the lab technician who handled the Ebola patient’s specimens at Texas Presbyterian hospital in Dallas. The latest reports indicate this health care worker has exhibited no signs or symptoms, and that blood tests were negative for the virus. Therefore, the health care worker was not contagious and there was no health threat to the passengers on the cruise ship.
To be clear, there is no evidence of a threat to our school community. We will keep the public informed of any new developments. It is important to note that TPS observes strict blood-borne pathogen protocols and provides training to our health service workers and staff to avoid the transmission of infectious disease.
