Tulsans invited to Exploring Equity community conversation

Tulsa Public Schools is hosting the third in a series of five community gatherings designed to provide a space for Tulsans to learn about a variety of issues which affect diversity, justice, and acceptance. Exploring Equity: LGBTQ Inclusion will take place on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Selman Room at the Education Service Center (3027 S. New Haven Ave. in Tulsa).

Exploring Equity: LGBTQ Inclusion will feature a panel discussion with community leaders including:

  • Moises Echeverria, Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice
  • Toby Jenkins, Oklahomans for Equality
  • Abril Marshall, Camp Fire Green Country
  • Alyssa Bryant, Tulsa attorney
  • Nancy McDonald, long time local advocate

The schedule for Exploring Equity: LGBTQ Inclusion is as follows:

  • 5:30 p.m.: dinner provided by Tulsa Public Schools
  • 6:00 p.m.: welcome and introductions
  • 6:15 p.m.: panel discussion (panel discussion will pause twice at 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for 15-minute tabletop discussions)
  • 8:00 p.m.: event closes

The panel discussion will be guided by Tulsa leader and advocate Hannibal Johnson. Additional community gatherings will take place monthly through the end of the school year. Future gathering will include religious diversity, immigration and immigrant communities.
