Tulsa Public Schools is already gearing up for the fall semester with a recruitment event for prospective teachers. "TPS Live" will feature a panel discussion detailing the challenges and rewards of being a Tulsa Public Schools teacher.
The panel will take place on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Mitchell Elementary School (733 N. 73rd E. Ave in Tulsa). The district invites both currently certified teachers and mid-career professionals who hold bachelor's degrees to attend the discussions and learn about available opportunities.
Superintendent Deborah A. Gist will moderate the discussion with panelists from across the district including Mitchell Elementary Principal Lyda Wilbur and 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year Robert Kaiser. Participants are welcome to ask questions and sign up for interviews with the district. To be fully staffed by the beginning of the fall semester, the district estimates hiring 275-300 new teachers.
