Margaret Hudson Program will host a community education forum to provide middle and high school students and their parents with resources about post-secondary education opportunities, career readiness and healthy relationships.

The forum will be from 9a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 3427 N. Birmingham Ave. A free breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. and lunch is provided. The forum is free and open to the public.

The keynote speaker at the forum will be KTUL education reporter Kim Jackson.

Breakout sessions will provide meaningful information to help middle and high school students start planning for college or vocational school, chart potential career paths and take charge of their future. Breakout Sessions include:

  • Career/Employment Planning
  • College/Vocational Planning
  • Financial Aid Overview (FAFSA/Promise/Tulsa Achieves)
  • Writing college and scholarship applications and essays
  • Success in the Classroom (Mastering the Fundamentals)
  • Los Padres Podemos Ayudar A Nuestros Hijos A Tener Éxito (This session will be taught in Spanish)
  • How to Talk to Your Child about Owning Their Future
  • Dating & Healthy Relationships
  • How to Have Success Without an Unplanned Pregnancy

Mosaic Economic Inclusion Forum Tulsa Public Schools has been named a 2015 5-star Top Inclusive Workplace Culture by the Tulsa Regional Chamber's diversity business council, Mosaic.

TPS is one 20 area organizations with a 5-star rating this year. There were also five 4-star rated and 10 3-star companies.

The awards were presented during the 2015 Mosaic Economic Inclusion Forum, held Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Gilcrease Museum.

The primary focus of the Mosaic council is to create awareness about the competitive advantage of having a diverse and inclusive business climate. Mosaic seeks to leverage the region's diversity to improve perceptions of the Tulsa community and grow the economy. Mosaic wishes to catapult the Tulsa region into the forefront of diversity and inclusion through talent recruitment initiatives and business retention and expansion efforts.
