This is Leticia’s seventh year working for Tulsa Public Schools. Prior to her current position, she has six years of experience as a classroom teacher of upper elementary in the subject areas of language arts, socials studies, and read 180. In addition, she recently graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma State University.
Meghan Austin has taught for fourteen years after obtaining her Bachelor’s of Arts in Education from Northeastern State University. She has been with TPS since 2006 teaching English at Tulsa Central High School. She taught ninth through eleventh grades, coached the flags and majorettes as a part of Central’s band, and was a teacher leader in Central’s PLC’s. In addition, Meghan is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Kerri began her career in education with TPS in 1999, working as an English teacher and Yearbook advisor for Nathan Hale High School through 2005. From 2005-2014, she taught English at Broken Arrow High School. Kerri has a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Northeastern State University; a Master’s degree in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership from Oklahoma State University; as well as National Board Certification in Adolescent and Young Adult Language Arts.

Naomi Kikue Poindexter has taught in the Tulsa Public School system at various middle schools, continuously for the past 30 years. She was last posted at Edison Preparatory School teaching English/Language Arts before becoming a New Teacher Mentor in 2013. Poindexter believes good teaching is a process facilitated by active support from successful career teachers. Poindexter and her husband have two children age 22 and 27, and she is in her third year of a Ph.D. program at Oklahoma State University. She is National Board Certified in English/Language Arts and is a member of the local Holocaust Educators Committee. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Poindexter enjoys shopping, traveling and she is involved community service through her local church.
Paula Poyner has been teaching in Tulsa, Union, and Bixby school districts for 24 years. She has been with TPS 18 of those years at Celia Clinton, Kerr, and most recently Lewis and Clark. Paula graduated from OSU with her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and NSU with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood. She has also worked as an adjunct teacher at OSU Tulsa. While in the public schools she has served as a mentor to new teachers, supervised student teachers, and been a team lead.
Nikki Sendejas received her B.A. in Elementary Education from The University of Tulsa and is currently working to complete her Masters in Curriculum from Oklahoma State University. Nikki has completed the majority of her teaching with students that have struggled to achieve in a traditional classroom. She began in the FOCUS alternative education program which concentrated on seeing all students achieve through high interest, real world, and student centered learning. Also, Nikki has taught in the Carrera program which advocates pregnancy prevention through education. Working with middle school children is a passion of Nikki’s, and has taught her to recognize and encourage students’ strength in order to help them achieve success regardless of circumstances.
Carolyn Thomas is a Kansas City Kansas native that began her teaching career in Kansas City Kansas Missouri in 1992. She relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1996 and began her wonderful Tulsa Public School career where she has served as a teacher, Reading Facilitator, and Literacy Coach. She received her Masters in reading from Oklahoma State University and her National Board Certification in Literacy. Currently, she is a New Teacher Mentor and enjoys spending time working with her teachers. Carolyn is committed in making sure that all students are afforded a world class education by helping her teachers become more effective in their practice. In 2010, she received the great honor of being named Tulsa Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Talitha Walls graduated from Langston University. She joined TPS in 2001 as a facilitator with Parent as Teachers, prior to her current position as an Instructional Coach.She has previously taught 2nd, 4th, and the 5th grade, for the last four years she served as team leader for the 4th grade at Cooper Elementary. Talitha believes that teachers should have passion to teach so their students will obtain passion for learning.
Deanne Williams holds multiple teaching certifications making her able to serve a diverse population. Her certifications include early childhood (Pre-K- third grade), Elementary Education grades 1-6, Social Studies and Science grades 6-8 and English Language Learner grades K-12. Deanne began her teaching career in inner city Jacksonville, FL teaching at risk high poverty students and has been in education for over 20 years spending the past 17 years in Tulsa Public Schools. Williams has led Professional Learning Communities focused on student data to advance teaching practices that help all students become successful. Some of her prior experience includes teaching multiple elementary grades, teaching English Language Development students and was a district English Language Development specialist traveling to multiple ELD teachers across the district to mentor and coach these teachers to improve their practices. Williams was chosen for the Teacher of Today award while teaching at McKinley Elementary School, Tulsa, OK. In addition to her teaching experience Williams has presented at various workshops and has trained teachers for WIDA ACCESS test certification.
Shawnda Wirth has spent 13 years at Tulsa Public Schools, serving as an early childhood and elementary teacher. She has continued work in developing and presenting professional development curriculum with the focus on differentiated instruction and best practices in districts across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. She has been awarded Teacher of the Year, Masonic Lodge Teacher of Today as well as a Top Seller Award from Teacher's Pay Teachers. Recent Professional Development and Leadership teams includes E-4 council, WISE Data Coordinator, Team Leader, Exxon Mobile Teaching Academy, U.S. Naval Academy STEM and served on the TPS team that attended NCTM conference. Wirth's classroom was utilized at a Model Classroom for Tulsa teachers in Math, ELA and differentiated work stations. She also commits her time to tutoring at a local homeless shelter as well as creating curriculum and blogging for the purpose of helping teachers.
