Construction I 9^th Grade

Rationale and Course Description

This course is designed to teach of cluster of occupations in the construction trade. Students will receive beginning level training in carpentry, cabinetmaking, masonry, and computer-aided drafting.

How will students learn?

Students will learn through classroom discussion, presentations, demonstrations, projects, and cooperative learning.

Students will be assessed through an objective written test, a performance test, and project rubrics.

Content:
Students will learn about Technology Student Association, participate in job shadowing, and research careers in the mechanical field. They will also complete a plan of study and portfolio.

Students will complete a resume and career exploration on OKCIS software. They will also complete a portfolio of best works and such.

Students will Complete safety tests on each power tools, Demonstrate safe work habits, Keep a clean orderly, safe work area, Demonstrate the safe use of hand and power tools, Identify personal protective equipment, and Keep work area clean.

Content:
Students will learn to Lay out a ceiling frame, Cut and install ceiling joists, Cut and install ceiling joists strong back, Lay out roof opening, Cut and install common rafters, Cut and install ridge board, Frame gable ends, Lay out common rafters, and Install roof sheathing.
