Physical Education Pacing Calendar
2nd Grade

Any 9 weeks section may be taught during any 9-week period.

1st Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.1 Demonstrates mature form in skipping, hopping, galloping and sliding.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.3 Demonstrates proper and improper stretching technique.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.2 Works cooperatively with another to complete assigned task.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.3 Identifies physical activities that are enjoyable.


2nd Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.2 Demonstrates mature motor patterns in simple combinations.

Standard 2:  Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.1 Applies movement concepts to a variety of basic skills.

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.1 Engages in individual and group fitness activities in and out of school setting.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.1 Engages in sustained physical activity that causes an increased heart rate and heavy breathing.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.1 Plays and cooperates with others regardless of personal differences.


3rd Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.3 Exhibits the ability to adapt and adjust movement skills to uncomplicated, yet changing, conditions and expectations.

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.3 Uses feedback to improve performance.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.2 Identifies the components of health-related fitness.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.1 Applies rules, procedures, and safe practices with little or no reinforcement.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.2 Demonstrates conflict resolution skills with others in socially acceptable ways.


4th Quarter

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.2 Demonstrates mature form in manipulative, locomotor and nonlocomotor skills.

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.2 Identifies at least one activity associated with each component of health-related physical activity.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.1 Enjoys interaction with others through physical activity.
7.2 Gains confidence and expresses feelings during physical activity.
