Physical Education Pacing Calendar
3rd Grade

Any 9 weeks section may be taught during any 9-week period.

1st Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.1 Demonstrates control in traveling activities and weight bearing and balance activities on a variety of body parts.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.2 Demonstrates safety in physical activity.
5.3 Works independently and on-task for short periods of time.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.2 Recognizes the attributes that individuals with differences can bring to group activities.


2nd Quarter

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.1 Applies movement concepts using a variety of selected specialized motor skills.

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.2 Participates in appropriate activity for the development of muscular strength and endurance.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.1 Recognizes the physiological indicators that accompany moderate to vigorous aerobic physical activity.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.1 Practices and distinguishes between appropriate and inappropriate behavior for participating with others in physical activity.


3rd Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.2 Exhibits the ability to adapt and adjust movement skills to changing environmental conditions and expectations.

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.2 Demonstrates several movements, concepts and principles in advanced motor skills.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.2 Understands the health related components of fitness and proper stretching technique.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.1 Respects persons from different backgrounds and cultures.


4th Quarter

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.1 Engages in physical activity for the purpose of developing a healthy lifestyle.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.1 Enjoys practicing activities to increase skill competence and self-expression.
7.2 Understands the benefit of cooperation, challenge, and participation with others in physical activity settings.
