Physical Education Pacing Calendar
5th Grade

Any 9 weeks section may be taught during any 9-week period.

1st Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.1 Adapts and combines skills to the demands of advanced activities.

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.1 Participates daily in physical activity that is health enhancing.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.1 Works cooperatively, safely, and productively with a partner or small group.


2nd Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.2 Combines movement skills in applied settings.

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.1 Uses critical elements of fundamental and specialized motor skills.
2.2 Recognizes and applies concepts that impact the quality of increasingly complex movement patterns.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.1 Participates in moderate to vigorous physical activity and monitors intensity of exercise.


3rd Quarter

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.2 Identifies several moderate to vigorous activities that provide personal pleasure.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level op physical fitness.
4.2 Associates results of fitness testing to personal health status and ability to perform various activities.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.2 Works independently and on-task for extended periods of time.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.1 Experiences differences and similarities among people of different backgrounds by participating in activities of national, cultural, and ethnic origins.
6.2 Demonstrates cooperation and respect for others during physical activity.


4th Quarter

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.3 Meets the health-related fitness standards as defined by Fitnessgram.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.1 Uses physical activity as a tool for self-expression and challenge.
7.2 Demonstrates enjoyment and participates in personally challenging physical activities.
7.3 Recognizes physical activity as a positive opportunity for group social interaction.
