Physical Education Pacing Calendar
6th Grade

Any 9 weeks section may be taught during any 9-week period.

1st Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.1 Demonstrates mature form for all basic manipulative, locomotor and nonlocomotor skills

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.3 Participates daily in some form of health enhancing physical activity.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.1 Participates in moderate to vigorous physical activity in a variety of settings.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.1 Participates in establishing rules, procedures, and etiquette that are safe and effective for specific activity situations.


2nd Quarter

Standard 2: Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
2.1 Uses information from a variety of sources of internal and external origin to improve performance.
2.2 Recognizes general characteristics of movement that can be applied to specific settings (e.g., similarity of the ready position in striking, throwing and other forms of movement).

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.1 Identifies opportunities in the school and community for regular participation in physical activity.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.2 Monitors intensity of exercise.


3rd Quarter

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
1.2 Demonstrates beginning strategies for net and invasive games.

Standard 5: Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
5.2 Utilizes time effectively to complete assigned task.

Standard 6: Demonstrates understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.
6.1 Acknowledges differences in the behaviors of people of different gender, culture, ethnicity, and ability, and seeks to learn more about both similarities and differences.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.2 Uses physical activity to express feelings.


4th Quarter

Standard 3: Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.
3.2 Analyzes personal interests and capabilities in regards to one’s exercise behavior.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
4.3 Meets the health-related fitness standards as defined by Fitnessgram.

Standard 7: Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
7.1 Recognizes enjoyment from participation in physical activities.
