Medicaid Outreach and Resources

Health care is a vital foundation for families wanting to ensure their children are ready to learn at school. We know that children without health insurance are absent more frequently than their classmates. They suffer more from chronic conditions, such as asthma, ear infections, and are more medically at risk. Treatment of these conditions can improve classroom attendance and participation in the learning process. Healthy children can and will learn and it is vital to the District’s Vision to ensure that children have access to needed health care.

The District’s Medicaid program is actively pursuing an outreach program to provide accurate and convenient information to the District’s families with the goal of increasing the number of the District’s children in the SoonerCare program. Access to health care is vital to our children and increasing the number of children enrolled in SoonerCare will increase the number of healthy children in our schools.

Knowledge is power and the following information is being provided to empower our District’s families to make positive choices regarding their children’s health. If you are an adult with children or a pregnant woman you may also be eligible for the SoonerCare program. The District encourages every family who may be potentially eligible for the SoonerCare program to fill out an application. The District is ready to assist you to enroll your children in the SoonerCare program. The one of the greatest gifts you may give your child is a healthy childhood and enrollment in the SoonerCare program can help make that happen.
