Tulsa Public Schools Health Services offers a variety of services which may include immunizations, vision and hearing screening, general health/illness appraisals, and Workers’ Compensation.  An example of these services can be seen in the 2004-2005 school year with Health Personnel screening 14,082 students for vision, 13,811 for hearing, with 213 students assisted with glasses. There were approximately 469,198 student visits and 6,598 staff visits for health/illness appraisals and assistance.

Our schools are staffed with Health Assistants at the elementary level with supervision and assistance by Registered Nurses (RN’s) who rotate.  Middle Schools and High Schools have RNs on site.  All 60 Health Assistants and 35 School Nurses are under the auspices of the Director of Health Services.

Health Services also provides Nursing and Dental Hygiene clinical experiences for Universities and Colleges, such as Langston University, The University of Oklahoma, The University of Tulsa and Tulsa Community College, to name a few.

Health partnerships include agencies/institutions such as OU Bedlam, OU Pediatrics, Morton Comprehensive Health Services, Tulsa City-County Health Department, Oklahoma Blood Institute and American Red Cross, to name a few.
