During this hands-on unit, students investigate the function, structure, behavior, and regulation of 5 human body systems: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, muscular, and skeletal. Embedded, written, and performance-based assessments are included throughout. The unit concludes with the Anchor Activity (a research project), in which students do in-depth research on a disease or related health-care career.
Part of the Science and Technology Concepts for Middle Schools™ curriculum, this unit is aligned with the National Science Education Standards. One-Class Kit includes a Teacher's Guide, 16 Student Guides, and the consumable and nonconsumable materials needed for one class to complete the unit in 8 to 12 weeks.

Student Safety Contract

At the first of every school year, each student should be given a copy of this contract.  It must be signed by student, parent or guardian and returned to you.  One copy per student covers all elementary kits.  Keep them on file for the duration of the school year.  The contract is available in both English and Spanish.  You can open and print the English version here and the Spanish version here.
