In this inquiry-based
unit, students work with a minimum of 16 living organisms (plants, insects, and
microbes) to investigate concepts such as life cycle, reproduction, growth, and
heredity. Each of the module's 3 sections concludes with a formal assessment;
informal assessments are imbedded into the lessons. The unit's Anchor Activity
(a research project) guides students to explore the relationship between
structure and function in vertebrates.
