This fascinating introduction to soil allows children to explore a familiar material in completely new ways. Through long-term experiments, students examine soil components, the effects of water, plant growth in soil, and (with the help of worms) decomposition/recycling. As they participate in the inquiry-based learning activities, students practice observing, recording data, interpreting results, and other vital skills.
  Part of the Science and Technology for Children® curriculum, this unit is aligned with the National Science Education Standards and offers complete hands-on instruction. Unit Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide and the materials (including a coupon redeemed for the worms) needed for a class of 30 students to complete the unit in about 8 weeks.

Student Safety Contract

At the first of every school year, each student should be given a copy of this contract.  It must be signed by student, parent or guardian and returned to you.  One copy per student covers all elementary kits.  Keep them on file for the duration of the school year.  You can open and print the contract here.
