Fair Use / Copyright Questions

I want to post student work (art, poetry, etc.) on my site. Since the student’s work is automatically copyright protected, do I need permission (other than verbal) from a parent before I post the work?

No, as long as the usage follows Fair Use and is for educational purposes.

Can I use music on my webpage?
Yes, however, permission is needed for all outside sources. Permission is not needed for school band / choir performances or original, internally created music.

What if a website offers music to download?
Only use music that you have permission to use, PERIOD. Many websites allow downloads of music; however, that does not mean they have the right to do so. They may be violating copyright law, or worse, the music might be out and out pirated.

Can I use music on my webpage from Microsoft Office?
Yes – no release is needed.
