PRESS RELEASE - September 13, 2007

Classic Rivalry Continues in Multi-Million Dollar Facility

What: District Dedication of LaFortune Stadium & Sports Complex
Where: LaFortune Stadium, 5840 South Hudson Ave.
When: Friday, September 14th, 7:20 p.m.

It’s 7:20 on Friday night in midtown Tulsa. The Edison Eagles marching band is just wrapping up an entertaining set at LaFortune stadium. In a brand-new, state-of-the art locker room, the Edison football team prepares for a bitter rematch against their arch rivals. The last time the Eagles clashed against the Memorial High School Chargers, they squeezed out a one-point victory with about a minute left on the clock.

Tensions are also running high in the home team locker room, where the Chargers have even more reason to want a win. It’s Homecoming Night for Memorial.

At 7:20 p.m., seven minutes before the referee tosses the coin to start the game, they line up and face each other across the fifty yard line to celebrate the dedication of both teams’ home field. After a year and a half of construction, Superintendent of Tulsa Public Schools, Dr. Michael Zolkoski, will cut LaFortune Stadium’s ceremonial ribbon and dedicate the district’s newest sports facility.

LaFortune Stadium’s new era begins with the 7:30 kickoff of the Mid Town Classic. Who will emerge victorious?

PLEASE NOTE:  Both Edison and Memorial will be brimming with pre-game excitement throughout the school day.
