Brian Grimm Brian Grimm has been named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. This is the first time since 1963 that a teacher from TPS has won the honor.

"I am just absolutely bowled over. I am just so happy for Rogers and TPS,” Grimm said moments after State Superintendent Sandy Garrett announced the winner.

Winning entitles Grimm to a prize package worth about $50,000. He’ll also travel the state as Oklahoma's Ambassador of Teaching, speaking to parents, educators and college students and conducting professional development. To compensate for Grimm’s absences from school, the Oklahoma legislature annually provides the funding for a full-time, certified substitute for his classroom.

Grimm teaches English and pre-Advanced Placement English at Will Rogers High School. He has been in his current position for five years with a total of 13 years experience in education and previous employment at Dallas and other schools in Texas.

The entire Tulsa Public Schools family would like to congratulate Brian on winning the state’s highest teaching honor.
