A Booker T. Washington teacher with almost four decades experience in educating the city’s youth has become the only Tulsa classroom teacher to be enshrined into the Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame.
Dr. Ronald Foore has served on numerous committees including the Center for Research and Development in Law Related Education and the Tulsa Historical Society. Foore’s students have garnered awards from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Philbrook Museum Art History competition. He has educated 149 National Merit semi finalists and 63 finalists. Foore’s Hall of Fame bio includes some of his numerous other honors: The Phi Delta Kappa Service Key Award (1990), the National Public School Administration Doctoral Scholarship Award (1989) and the U.S. Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of America Award (1982). He has been the senior writer for two textbooks, Glencoe Understanding Psychology and The American Nation.
“This award is about leadership and service. Ron is exemplary,” said Dr. Sharon Lease, the hall’s executive director.
“I owe this wonderful honor in no small measure to the achievements and hard work of the thousands of students and many colleagues with whom I have had the privilege to work over the last thirty-seven years,” Foore said.
Housed in Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Educators Hall of Fame is one of the oldest existing non-profit halls for educators in the nation.
