‘TWAS THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS….

‘Twas the week before Christmas at Bell Elementary School,

a member of Tulsa Public…Oklahoma’s Jewel;

The students were excited, the teachers were, too,

about a special assembly called The Holiday Review;

They peered from the windows, they watched from the door,

waiting and wondering what was in store;

When what to their wondering eyes should appear,

but a shiny blue school bus drawing quite near;

There were tinsel and garlands decorating the grill,

then the bus stopped in front…OH! What a thrill!

People started unloading, and then with a bounce,

out jumped the man whose name most can’t pronounce;

The children and teachers all shouted with glee,

“He’s here! He’s here! It’s Dr. Z!”

Dr. Zolkoski waved to the children then walked to the gym,

and soon teachers and students started filing in;

The gym was all glittering with lights and a scene,

people playing instruments, with elves and reindeer between;

We sang and we danced along with Dr. Z,

while he played his guitar and trumpet with ease;

Laughter and merriment echoed off the gym walls,

strains of Christmas carols wafted down the empty halls;

Mrs. Patrick was dancing along with the rest,

As assemblies go…THIS WAS THE BEST!

Bell Elementary had a day of great joy,

smiles gleamed on the faces of each girl and boy;

Then all too soon Dr. Z had to go

to another school with his Holiday Review show;

But we heard him exclaim as he got on the shiny blue bus,

“I had a great time, and Merry Christmas!”
