CARNEGIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL will strive to form a strong partnership with the Tulsa community to provide a learning environment in which students can develop self-confidence, academic readiness for the future, skills for responsible citizenship, and a desire for life-long learning.
This mission shall be achieved by the pursuit of these goals:
To help all children develop positive and confident attitudes about themselves.
To help children recognize and respect cultural diversity and the individual worth of others.
To provide balanced curricular offerings in reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, and the fine arts.
To teach children to assume responsibility for their work and for their actions.
To diagnose the individual learning needs of children and to prescribe activities which will meet those needs.
To maintain a learning environment throughout the school which is safe, nurturing, and motivational.
To encourage all parents to be active partners in our pursuit of excellence for their children.
The goal of Carnegie Elementary is to provide EXCELLENCE in education which concentrates on the basic skills. The basic skills include reading, writing, language, math, science, social studies, and the arts. These basics will prepare students to live in our changing society. The instruction provided to the individual learner expects him/her to use the maximum of his learning ability in a positive school climate which encourages trust, warmth, and self-discipline.
To the Student: Today you are creating your future. Use your gifts, talents, and your best effort to take advantage of this opportunity to learn. This is your chance for life in America at its fullest.
To the Parents: Your child needs to be of strong character and well educated to function effectively in today's society. He/She needs to have a deep respect for intelligence, achievement, learning and disciplined work. You have a right to expect the best for your child that can be given to you with the resources available at Carnegie. The personnel in the school accepts that responsibility and asks you to actively participate in the education of your child. Nurture your child's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Encourage good study habits, monitor home study, and provide time and books for recreational reading. If you have a suggestion, concern, or problem about your child's progress in school, communicate with the teacher, counselor, or administrator.
