GEAR-UP

We are very excited to introduce Mr. Eli Brown, III, Central's new GEAR-UP Site Facilitator.  Mr. Brown is making a positive impact at Central.  

Mentoring Program

GEAR-UP's Sisters For Success, a mentoring program for 9th and 10th grade young women is supported by Oklahoma State University.  GEAR-UP's MOST-DEF, a mentoring program for 9th and 10th grade young men is supported by the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League.

CAPP-College Awareness & Planning Program

CAPP is a collaborative effort with Langston University and the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League that provides a series of lectures and interactive seminars about college and life skills.

Math and Literacy Tutors

Tulsa University with GEAR-UP is providing weekly tutors in Algebra I, Geometry, English I and English II.

Reading Group

Langston University with GEAR-UP is providing a reading group.  The selected books focus on increasing global understanding and empathy. 

Instructional Coaches

GEAR-UP has provided Instructional Coaches in math and literacy to support 9th grade RampUp teachers.  The Instructional Coaches visit the classroom once a week to provide assistance, join the classroom experience, share ideas, and provide additional materials that will enhance student learning.

Field Trips

Central students have already experienced their first field trip sponsored by GEAR-UP and Oklahoma State University  Students enjoyed a full day outdoors at Red Bud Valley Nature Trail.  Field Trips are scheduled throughout the year and include Tulsa Technology Center, Langston University, Northeastern State University, and Oklahoma State University.
