Dear 2nd Grade Families:

“The Mitten” has been postponed one week.  Our play will be performed Wednesday, February 20th, at 8:00 a.m. for Rise n’ Shine.  The kids have been working hard and are anxious to share the performance with you.  We do hope you will be able to attend.  We need a few creative parents to help us make some costumes.  Please let us know if you are available.

Our Valentine’s parties will be Thursday, February 14th, at 2:00 p.m.  The kids would like a pizza party.  Please bring $2.00 to help us cover the cost.  We have 41 students and ask that if you are going to send cards that no one be left out.  You child is coming home with a hand printed list to help with making cards.

                      Thanks for your support!

Dear Second Grade Families:

We hope you are staying warm during this extremely cold week.  We greatly appreciate all of your children being here on time.  We are still having a few problems with tardiness early in the morning.  Please remember that students are to be seated and ready to learn at 7:55 a.m.  Every Friday the students who have been on time ALL week will be able to eat lunch in the classroom with their teachers.

Thursday, January 24th, students can wear jeans and a Chouteau t-shirt or uniform shirt.  Friday, January 25th,  is FREE DRESS DAY.  We have been seeing a few pants with designs throughout the week; please remember khaki, black or navy blue plain pants, skirts, or jumpers and red, white, or navy blue polo style shirts.  Thank you!

Mark your calendars now, for Wednesday, February 13th, at 8:00 a.m.  The McPotts 2nd grade class will be performing “The Mitten” for Rise n’ Shine.  We’d love to have you attend.

Please read the information being sent home today about the Six Flags reading challenge.  It is due by February 22nd

We are in need of packages of white or off white cardstock paper.  If possible we’d appreciate you donating some to our classroom.  We are also in need of some help sewing new book bags for our students.  If you’d like to volunteer to sew please let us know on the back of your child’s calendar.  We will send home some fabric and a pattern.  Thank you so much!  Also, if you have any book bags lying around your house please return them.  We have some how managed to lose a few.

Thanks for all your support!

Dear Second Grade Families:

This Friday will be school picture day. The students will need to wear their uniform polo shirts and jeans. Pictures will be taken right after morning clubs.

Mark your calendars, Back to School Night will be Thursday, September 6th, at 6:00 p.m. We look forward to meeting you. The kids will be working on a little "informance" for you as a special treat. Informances are skits and plays that the children are working on. They aren’t expected to be perfect; they are to give the kids the experience of acting and working together as a team.

Remember this is the last week to buy a Chouteau T-shirt. Students will be able to wear them on Fridays with their jeans or jean shorts..

Thanks to everyone who has donated snacks to our class. We could use more. Pretzels, crackers, raisins, are a few of the kids favorites.

We still have a few students who are confused about homework. We have homework every night.

Homework Reminder:

Monday – Spelling Sentences

Tuesday – Math

Wednesday – Reading (stories in our reading books and parent signs the slip)

Thursday – Miscellaneous (Usually phonics or math)

Friday – Book Bags (Student must read two or three self-selected books and parent must sign the book list paper).

Thanks for your support,

Mrs. McBurney
