Author Susan Cooper
September 10, 2004
Ms. Cooper came to Tulsa in September to accept the Tulsa Library Trust's 2004 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers' Literature. She is best known as the creator of "The Dark Is Rising" series. Her works for younger children include "Frog," "Matthew's Dragon, " "The Silver Cow: A Welsh Tale," "the Selkie Girl" and "Tam Lin." Older children and teens will enjoy "The Boggart," "The Boggart and the Monster," "King of Shadows" and "Green Boy."
Mrs. Blank won the author's visit for Chouteau in a drawing for attendees of the Mr. Henry's Books Teacher Workshop last January.
Also visiting Chouteau to hear Susan Cooper was Judy Kishner, the daughter of Henry Zarrow, and Larry Bartley, Tulsa City County Library Trust.
Keegan, Mary and Tyler display the poster student's made honoring Mr. Zarrow.
A Tulsa World representative came to Chouteau when Ms. Cooper was here. You can see Ms. Cooper peek around the door as students ask questions.
