NCAA Clearinghouse What is it? The clearinghouse is the governing body of college athletics. It ensures the integrity of athletic programs and the recruitment process. Click here to register. All student athletes who participate in athletics at the collegiate level are required to register with the clearinghouse. Students need to initially register at the end of junior year. There is a registration fee and a transcript will need to be sent. Students must meet GPA and test score requirements for Division I and Division II eligibility. There are 14 core courses required for NCAA. Class of 2008 and later will be required to complete 16 core courses. Very important! Classes taken in the 8th grade for high school credit do not count towards the clearinghouse. Things to do: 1- Ensure your student is properly enrolled in courses that will count towards the clearinghouse. 2- If your student earns a grade below a C, consider retaking that course. 3- Contact the NCAA Clearinghouse and request a copy of the “Guide for the college bound student athlete.” There is a wealth of information in this booklet from guidelines to recruiting questions. 1-800-262-1492 If you have specific questions please contact Mrs. Lang, Senior Counselor Langch@tulsaschools.org |
