The Edison Instrumental Music Department consists of six performing ensembles covering a variety of styles.

As our largest instrumental group, the Screamin' Eagle Marching Band is a combination of the students enrolled in 1st hour Concert Band and 2nd hour Wind Ensemble.  This group rehearses Mondays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, and Tuesday through Friday from 7:20 to 8:35 am.  It performs at football games, pep assemblies, contests, and parades.

The Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group and represents the best of the instrumental music department’s musicians. The advanced repertoire of the Wind Ensemble challenges this group, which competes locally and nationally and will travel to Atlanta, Georgia this year for our annual Heritage Music Festival appearance.

The Concert Band includes all other band students and offers a repertoire which is challenging but accessible to less-experienced players.  This group competes on a local level .

The Advanced Orchestra is an advanced string ensemble available to students by audition only. The demands of this group’s repertoire are daunting. This group has competed locally and nationally, and will travel to Atlanta, Georgia this year for our annual Heritage Music Festival appearance.

The Concert Orchestra includes all other string students and offers a repertoire which is challenging but accessible to less-experienced players.   This group competes on a local level.

Jazz Band is available to students by audition only.  All students in Jazz must be enrolled in a PRIMARY Music class.  Jazz Band performs for community and school events and in appropriate contests and festivals, as well as traveling to Atlanta, Georgia this year for our annual Heritage Music Festival appearance.
