Eagle Focus
In a matter of weeks, our upper grades (3-5) will be taking the OCCT, commonly know as the “state tests”. For the first time, our second graders will be taking an end of instruction test. Our students and staff have been working extremely hard on preparing for the tests. It is our goal and mission to do the very best we can do and make the Tulsa World as the most improved school in Tulsa!
Tests offer a measure of how well students are learning. We set high standards for what we want our students to know and be able to perform. Good tests are tools that help measure student growth against those standards. Not only do they gauge achievement, test outcomes can help parents better realize where their children are succeeding and where they need extra help.
Tests are also a significant teaching and learning tool. In the course of a school year, classroom tests can give teachers valuable information to help them modify their teaching practice for individual students and the entire classroom.
How can parents help prepare students for tests? Many factors contribute to testing success: Ø Get proper nutrition and adequate rest Ø Attend school regularly and always be on time (instructional time is lost when students are tardy) Ø Develop and maintain good study habits (have a routine at home) Ø Providing an atmosphere of open communication, encouragement and support. You are their first teacher! We appreciate your support, your willingness to support Emerson, and your valuable role as a parent and family member. Our doors are always open and ready for your visits! See you at school! Ms. States |
