"...Committed to Excellence"

At Foster Middle School, our motto is "Committed to Excellence." We are committed in doing the best we can in academics, and achieving high standards. This page will give you a brief overview of how our school environment is set up and what courses we provide at Foster Middle School.

Time for School!!!

As you might know already know, each school year is divided up into four(4) nine week periods called quarters. Your child will receive a progress report in the middle of each nine week period, and a report card at the end of each nine week period. If you wish to receive a special progress report of your child, you may request one from your child’s counselor. Our school number is (918)746-9500.

Clubs

In each quarter, we offer different clubs that can be assigned to a child. To get a better understanding of clubs, you may choose "Clubs" on the left side of this window, or simply by clicking here.

Teamwork

So far, we have covered the basics of how a school year is arranged, and what reports you (the parent and/or guardian) may receive from your child’s teacher. Now, we will explain how our building is arranged according to the grade level. Our school building is two stories tall. Each individual grade level has its own designated hallway. To get a better understanding of the floor plan of our school, see Figure 1 below.

Core Classes

In the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades each student has four(4) core subjects, including Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. At Foster Middle, we offer classes that are aimed for students with higher and faster learning standards than the average class. These select students are enrolled in our Accelerated classes. In the 8th grade, some of our Accelerated classes offer High School credit for the selected students who pass an exit test at the end of the year. This means that the student will now have to take that selected class in his or her freshmen year in High School. He or she will then take the next course in line after the original course. For example, an accelerated student plans to take Algebra I in the 8th grade. If this student maintains superior grades, passes the exit test, and has a teacher recommendation, he or she will not take the Algebra I course in High School. This student will then take a course in replacement of the Algebra I course. This is an example of High School credit. Keep in mind that this only applies to some specific classes, not all. The student must also pass the exit test at the end of the year. If you would like some in depth information, please see one of our counselors at our school, or email us at -------@tulsaschools.org.

Electives

We have many electives that students may choose from. A student may choose only two elective classes to be assigned in his or her schedule. You can get a more detailed description of our elective classes and choices by choosing "Electives" on the left side of this window, or by simply clicking here.
