Book Review by Jessie B. Goodbye Mr. Chips by James Hilton
Goodbye Mr. Chips is a story about a British school master. His real name is Mr. Chippings, but all his students just call him Chips. The story goes over Chip's memories from the time he started teaching until the time of his death. Chips led a very full life with many tears and much laughter. The book is short enough for people that don't read that much, but it's still good enough for the people who love to read. Rating:

Overall, the book was good. It was about people and their individual problems. Some of the problems included depressing home lives and unplanned pregnancies. This book serves as an overview to some of the problems teenagers face and demonstrates how the problems are solved under immense amounts of pressure. If you enjoy a good realistic story to which you can relate, this book is for you! Rating:

Book Review by Jessie B. Where the heart is by Billie Letts
Where the Heart Is
is a very heartwarming story about a woman who had her baby in a Wal-Mart. Seven
months pregnant, seventeen year old Novalee Nation went in to buy some house
shoes while her boyfriend waited in the car. She had $7.77 in change, and went
outside to find her boyfriend, Willy Jack, gone. Sevens sure were unlucky for
her. She ended up living in that Wal-Mart in Sequoyah, OK until her baby,
Americus, was born. She moves in with a loving lady named Sister Husband and
meets many new friends: Benny Goodluck, Moses Whitecotten, Forney Hull, and
Lexie Coop just to name a few. It's a great story for anyone in bad spirits.
It'll show you the true meaning of family: It's not who you're born with, it's
who you love. Rating:
Book Review by Jessie B. White Lies and Barefaced Truths by Cathy Hopkins
Cat and Becca are the best of friends and always have been. Nothing will ever come between them, that is, until they both start liking the same guy at school-- Ollie Oxford. There are just a few problems though: 1) Cat has a boyfriend 2) Cat can't tell Becca how she's truly feeling 3) Ollie is only interested in Cat. I really liked this story, the English setting made it very interesting and showed how the girls' lives are different than the ones we lead. Rating:
