School History

You Can’t Hide that Falcon Pride!

Welcome to Hamilton, home of the Falcons, a school built in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1957 by Manhattan Construction Company at a cost of $1.2 million dollars.  When the building first opened as Hamilton Junior High School, there were 36 teachers, 3 class advisors, Principal Ed Coffey, Assistant Principal Marion McQuigg, and 916 students in grades seven through ten. In 1984 Hamilton became a middle school serving students in grades six through eight.

Today, our principal is Debra Wiggins and the Assistant Principal is Gary Estes.  Our Dean is Tammie Bowman. Our Principal Intern is Mollie Miller. The counselor is Ms. Susan Lakios. The school nurse is Ms. Easton. The Library Media Specialist and Web Page designer is Juliana McPheeters.

In December of 1995 we had our first Internet access in the Library.  Hamilton’s first web site was created in February of 1996.  The school year 1997-1998 was Hamilton’s 40th Anniversary Year, and in the fall of 1999 a new wing for sixth grade classes was opened.  Extensive renovations throughout the building during 2006 have given our school a fresh new look.

In 2002-2003 Hamilton had 40 certified staff, several teaching assistants, secretaries, custodians, cafeteria workers, and a library clerk. There were 623 students on a six period schedule.

School Year 2004-2005 welcomed a new principal, new media specialist, 2 deans of instruction, 2 counselors, a full-time certified staff of nearly 40 teachers, coaches, paraprofessionals, and full time library clerk.

In the fall of 2006, Hamilton joined TPS middle schools in implementing a school uniform policy. Scholars are to wear the appropriate grade color polo or sweatshirt along with khaki pants. These scholars look sharp! We also have a newly renovated library media center.

For 2007 our school has a new look, new windows, and a new Compass Learning Computer Lab.
