Hello, my name is Anita
Brummett, a third grade teacher. This year the subjects I teach are
Reading, Science,
Math and Spelling. I received my Bachelor and Master Degrees
both from Northeastern Oklahoma State University. I belong to several
educational organizations; they include Oklahoma Reading Association,
Kappa Kappa Iota, and Phi Delta Kappa.
My first teaching position was as a second grade teacher in a small
community west of Sapulpa. My fourth year there was spent teaching in a
trailer because a tornado destroyed my classroom during the summer. After
four years I decided to take a year off to earn a Masters in Education. My
next teaching position was as a kindergarten teacher in another small
community east of Tulsa. I was offered a position in Tulsa the following
year and accepted. During my time in Tulsa I’ve had the opportunity to
teach everything from developmental first grade to fifth grade. Of all the
grades I’ve taught, I believe third is my favorite (at least it is right
now).
I really like spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy
reading, hiking, going to movies and traveling. My husband and I belong to
the Tulsa Early Ford V8 club so many of our weekends are spent going on
car tours throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. My summer months are
spent going to school and workshops, working around the house, and helping
my parents, near Tahlequah, with their gardening. (This is much more fun,
now that I don’t have to do it!)
That’s me, Anita, in a nutshell. Thanks for visiting our school.
