A Note From the Teacher I want to take a moment to stress to you how important it is that your child be at school regularly and on time. Our class is moving very fast now and missing school makes it difficult for the children to catch up on missed lessons. Our reading instruction is in the morning so it is very important that your child be on time every morning. Please help your child get to school on time each day. This week in reading, we will be focusing on the word endings of –s and –ing. We will also be discussing what is meant by “the main idea” of a story. In order to support your child’s reading this week, look for opportunities to discuss these things with your child. Look for –s and –ing words when you are reading with your child each day. Be sure to continue practicing the “Words of the Week” with your children. Let them go on a Word Hunt for these words in one of their favorite books. The spelling words and Words of the Week are listed below in order to help you assist your child this week. Congratulations to Emily, Dana, and Sydney! They did not have to take their Spelling Tests on Friday due to their perfect scores on the practice test! This week in math we are completing our work on “Understanding Addition & Subtraction”. The most important thing you can do to help your children in math this week is to review the practice test with them on Thursday and have them correct it for Thursday night’s homework. I want to remind you that I am always eager to answer any questions or discuss anything related to your child’s education. Please feel free to talk with me about your concerns and suggestions. You may email me at ritchma@tulsaschools.org or call me at school. I will return your call the same day in most cases. You should expect to hear from me no later than the following day.
Sincerely, Ms. Ritchie Spelling Words Words of the Week
