About Lee School
At Lee School we operate on a
traditional school
calendar. Our classes begin on August 20, 2007 and will continue until May
29, 2008, the closing date is subject to change due to weather. Classes begin at
7:55 a.m. Monday through Friday and conclude at 2:45 p.m.
We are located just south of downtown
Tulsa on Cincinnati Avenue, a one way street traveling south, a part
of the beautiful and historic Maple Ridge neighborhood. Our school covers
two city blocks from 19th to 21st street.
We offer a 4 year old program limited to twenty children. We also offer
three all day kindergarten classes.
In first, second, and third grade, our students meet all
day in a self-contained classroom. During the day, their teacher will cover
all subjects from reading, writing, social studies science and math. They will
also travel to art, P.E., or music, for 40 minutes each day for a well rounded education.
In fourth and fifth grades, our students spend half of
the day traveling to specialized classes and half of the day in homeroom
studying reading, language arts, and social studies. The traveling is set up on
a rotating basis and include the following classes: science, computer, math,
art, and PE.
We also have a special projects class that meets one day
a week available for third, fourth, and fifth grade students. This is an
advanced class used to broaden the scope of education. The students involved in
special projects must also keep up with the work they miss from their regular
classes during their weekly day of attendance. First and second grade students
are exposed to this program for a 30 minute period one day per week. They also witness many of the projects as the third
through fifth grade students present their work.
As it was once said, all work and no play make Jack
and Mary dull students. Our school day does allow our students to exercise
their body as well as their mind. Whether they play on our cement slab,
complete with a map of the United States (Hawaii
is out of the picture), our big toys, or our large
playground, there is plenty to do while relaxing
during a break from class.
Our students are involved in many activities at
school and through extra curricular activities. We traditionally score
well on state mandated testing and we are proud of our accomplishments.
