Do you have a student athlete in your family?  The NCAA has set forth the following guidelines for students who would like to attend a Division I or Division II school on an athletic scholarship:

  • Satisfy all high school graduation requirements
  • Have a grade point average of 2.0 in 16 core academic classes
  • Achieve a 68 (sum of scores on the four individual tests) on the ACT, or an 820 on the SAT

 16 Core Classes

  • 4 years English
  • 3 years math (Algebra I or higher)
  • 2 years natural/physical science
  • 1 year additional English, math, or natural/physical science
  • 2 years social studies
  • 4 years of additional courses (in any area above or in a foreign language, nondoctrinal religion/philosophy)

When scheduling your classes keep this in mind.

Were you aware there are 15 college scholarships available only to students living in Oklahoma?  Your child’s counselor can help you learn about these scholarships.

Also, Google search “Newsweek: New Ivy Leagues” and learn about some lesser known high achieving colleges.

Do you think your child can’t attend college?

Many colleges are looking for students who are in “special populations”.

ESL/ELL students, students with disabilities, underrepresented students, athletes, and even students who would like to major in a visual or performing art might qualify.

So, even if your child isn’t “college material” they might be.
