Fourth grade offers an exciting, yet challenging
curriculum.
To be successful, students will need as much parental
support as possible. Listening to your children read at home every night, doing
math flash cards, and encouraging them to work their hardest while at
school are just a few ways that parents can offer this crucial support.
When it comes to specific subjects, reading and math are the two that
require the most attention at home and in the classroom. Understanding and applying basic math facts is critical before new
skills can be acquired. For reading, skills taught in previous grades
are reinforced and expanded to encourage critical thinking. Two major
reading skills that will be continually sharpened in preparation for
fifth grade are fluency and comprehension. In social studies, the focus
is on the regions of the United States, settlement of the state of
Oklahoma, and much more!
