Dear Mayoans,

Today is Leap Day.  An extra day in the calendar to make sure that the rest of our years stay on track.  I heard you were going bowling this afternoon.  When I go bowling, it is through Farmer McGregor’s garden with my good friend, Peter Rabbit.  He used to be considered a menace by Farmer McGregor, but I told him about the LIFESKILLS that you use here and he went right up to Farmer McGregor and apologized for all the damage he had done in the past.  Farmer McGregor was so impressed that he started planting an extra garden just for Peter and his family to use.  That was caring and friendship on the part of Mr. McGregor.

Speaking of caring and friendship, Elizabeth Walker sure knows what friendship and caring mean.  She saw that Mikayla Bengel was hurt the other day and went to the nurse to get an ice bag for her.  The beauty of it was that no one had to ask her to do it. Thanks, Liz, for being so sweet.  I know Mikayla felt better.

Then, Elizabeth got hurt on the playground yesterday and Madison James helped her get to the nurse to get checked out.  I guess that Madison also knows the LIFESKILLS, too.

Evonne Fuselier knows that sharing with friends is helpful, too.  She voluntarily gave Jalen half of her salt doh so that he would be able to build a salt doh creature.  Evonne, sharing like that can only make the world a BETTER place.

On two occasions Tim James ran to help Keith Petersen after he had been knocked down.  Tim, way to go to help a friend in need.

Ansley Dillard cleaned up Mrs. Hunt’s area without being asked.  I think that is integrity, doing what’s right because it is the right thing to do.

Devin Shinn and Alli Bracken help in the mornings with the entry board and changing names in the Armstrong area for the workers of the day.  That is a big help to the Armstrong teachers, who frequently have lots of other duties to handle in the morning.

Lucy Power has been working so hard in literacy to get all of her work finished.  She loves going to Nanny’s Corner and getting extra help when she needs it.

I just love hopping around and watching you all as you work.  It warms my heart.  And this year I get an extra day to watch.  I LOVE leap year!  Have fun at the bowling alley!

See ya,

A.C.
