VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:  Beginning on January 5th, the day we return from the holiday break, Memorial will join the other high schools’ cell phone policy.  It was hoped that we would not have to take this stance; however, the repetition of continually reminding and asking students to put up phones as well as the blatant texting and messaging that occurs during class has required a step further. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed at school – this has been a TPS (not just Memorial) policy for several years. Every year we go through the same information. Many times, the people who take advantage of a situation are the ones who cause more consequences. Unfortunately, that may be the case.  Please read and understand the new procedures. The policy is as follows:

·        Student cell phones will be confiscated if they are seen or heard

·        Phones will be taken to the TPS Police Department headquarters located at 31st and New Haven at the end of each day by Campus Security

·        Only parent/guardian appearing on the TPS mainframe information will be able to pick up the cell phone from ESC. A picture ID will be required to pick up the phone.

·        Students who refuse to surrender cell phones will be eligible for ISI or out of school suspension – additional referrals can/will be written if necessary

·        MHS is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones

Dear Parents,

Beginning January 5, LaFortune Community Center and the Kaiser Library will be offering activities Monday – Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. for students from Memorial High School.  The activities will include wii games, volleyball, pottery, basketball, and self defense.   All of these are free of charge except for self defense

that will cost $40.00 per month should they wish to enroll.

If they choose not to take advantage of the activities that will be offered by either

facility,  then they will be asked to wait outside.

We have received complaints from patrons regarding students loitering in the lobby.

Again we hope your child takes advantage of the opportunities offered to them.

If you wish to inquire about the activities from either facility please call the numbers listed below.

Thank you for your understanding.
