COURSE TITLE: Accounting

GRADE LEVEL(S): 11, 12

PREREQUISITE:NONE

CREDIT(S): 1 Unit

  A one-year course which emphasizes a basic understanding of double-entry accounting.  Students learn to interpret business forms and to prepare a simple set of accounting records—journals, ledgers, financial statements.

   

COURSE TITLE:  Business Technology I

GRADE LEVEL(S):  9, 10, 11, 12

PREREQUISITE:   Keyboarding/Typing

CREDIT(S):  ˝ Unit

Students will examine changes occurring in today’s office organization and the implementation of electronic technology to facilitate the flow of information through an organization.  Students will be made aware of the changes occurring in job responsibilities as technology becomes more prevalent in business offices.  Special emphasis will be placed on the reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills needed in the electronic office. 

Course content will include a two to three week keyboarding review, computer literacy, windows, and an introduction to Microsoft Word through business letter and resume writing.

COURSE TITLE:   Computer Technology

GRADE LEVEL(S):   9, 10, 11, 12

PREREQUISITE:  Keyboarding and Approval of Instructor

CREDIT(S): 1 Unit

This program is designed to prepare students for positions in business environments using microcomputers.  Students will learn to interact with the computer in the operating systems, windows (GUI), and the local area network to solve business applications involving word processing, electronic spreadsheets, database management, desktop publishing, presentations, and job application and interview.  Microsoft Office software will be used.

 

COURSE TITLE: Web Page Development

GRADE LEVEL:   11, 12

PREREQUISITE:   Computer Technology and Teacher Approval

CREDIT(S):1 Unit

This course introduces students to the emerging career area of web planning and design.  Students develop an in-depth knowledge of the internet, tools and resources associated with the internet, create web-based applications through hyper-text mark up language (HTML), tests and debugs.  Students also perform low level troubleshooting of HTML publishing, and develop an understanding of web-based multimedia and database applications,.
