Art Appreciation is one or two semester course designed to provide students exposure to the history or artistic achievements. The student is exposed to art history through reading materials, class discussion, visual aids. And art activities. This course emphasizes the study of art history from prehistory to modern times, which will include ethnic groups. P.A.S.S. Course Title: Color and Design

Color and Design is a one semester course offering created to present a varied, challenging, and logical sequence of studies which stress an understanding of the basic principles of design, in-depth knowledge and experience with various media and techniques, and an introduction to man’s artistic heritage. Specific concepts covered include fundamentals of composition, drawing, painting, two-dimensional design, printmaking, and art appreciation. P.A.S.S. Course Title: Form and Design

Form and Design is a one or two-semester course that teaches students to create 3-D works using basic principles of design. Emphasis is placed on various mediums and techniques used to create 3-D work. Concepts covered may be presented through the use of various mediums such as; pottery, sculpture, and fiber arts. P.A.S.S. Objectives for art will be incorporated into this class and will fulfill graduation requirement for art. All students are required to pay a lab fee.
Course Title: Studio Art I AP

Studio Art I AP is intended for highly motivated students committed to serious study of art, and is not intended for the casually interested art students. Students can qualify for AP college credit by taking the AP exam in May. three areas of emphasis on the AP exam are:
1) Quality-Actual art work sent that excel in concept , composition and execution
2) Concentration- A series of works organized around a visual concept.
3) Breadth- Works that demonstrate broad experience and accomplishment.
The exam will consists of approximately 36 pieces produced during the course of the school year. All students are required to pay a lab fee.
Course Title: Photography I

Photography I introduces students to the basic concepts of photography. Students will gain an appreciation of being a photograph we thorough assignments such as ; reading , written reports, and hands on activities. This course will teach students these specific skills:
1) How to take quality photographs
2 ) How to process black and white film
3) How to create black and white prints
4) How to matte photographs like professionals

In this class, opportunity for individual improvement is provided through the variety of music selected for study and performance to challenge the technical skill of each student. Emphasis is on development of performance and listening skills at an advanced technical and artistic level. Music materials will include selections from standard orchestral literature of many styles and periods as well as contemporary works. Opportunities of performance include school assemblies, evening concerts. Assemblies for feeder schools, as well as contests and civic activities approved by the administration.
Attendance, participation, and performance will constitute a major part of the grade.
Course Title: Ensemble I (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion)

This course is for students held in reserve for openings in the Wind Ensemble as well as those needing further study to qualify for the Wind Ensemble. Emphasis is on individual development of performance and listening skills through ensemble playing and a program of individual testing. Music for study and performance is selected to provide a variety of musical experiences as well as to challenge the ability of each student.
Attendance, participation, and performance will constitute a major portion of the grade.

Advanced band is a select concert organization compromised of advanced wind and percussion instrumentalists. Emphasis is on development of performance and listening skills at an advanced technical and artistic level. Music for study and performance is selected from traditional and contemporary wind literature representing many styles and periods. This may include pieces which vary from the traditional instrumentation of the concert band. This class is a combination concert and marching band. Opportunities for performance include school assemblies, evening concerts, assemblies for feeder schools, as well as contests and civic activities approved by the administration.
Attendance, participation, and performance will constitute a major part of the grade.

Speech is a one-semester elective course open to all students. The student is given instruction in listening, in all kinds and types of speeches and in selection and organizing materials. The student learns to communicate clearly through public speaking, forensics, and drama activities. This is primarily a performance-based course.

This class is primarily for those students whose voice ranges will ultimately require a classification of soprano or alto. Emphasis is this course I placed on voice development, ear training, independence in part singing, music reading skills, listening, and performances skills. Music materials will consist of standard SSA choral literature of easy to medium difficulty of many styles and periods as well as contemporary works.
Opportunities for performance include evening concerts ad masterwork mass performance in downtown Tulsa. Attendance, participation, and performance will constitute a major portion of the grade.

Music materials will consist of standard TTBB choral literature of easy to medium difficulty of many styles and periods as well as contemporary works.

The Music Theory I AP course introduces students to musicianship, theory, musical materials and procedures. It integrates aspects of melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, form, musical analysis, elementary composition and music history and style. It includes musicianship skill such as dictation and other listening skills. Sight singing, and keyboard harmony. The student may earn college credit for successful scoring on the Advanced Placement examination.
Course Title: Tech Theatre

Students gain first hand experience in the methods of lighting, sound, construction painting, assembly and building techniques used in theatre. This course is a “hands on” course in which the student performs all tasks associated with theatre production including: operating the sound system, lighting system, stage rigging, curtains, spotlight, and scenery changing systems. Emphasis is placed on the student work projects and manual skills developed in this course.
