ABOUT US
Mission
The purpose of this project is to transform
teaching and learning through arts-infused curriculum and talent
development groups. We provide resources that enable all students in
the classrooms of participating teachers to experience the arts within
the curriculum, at the same time allowing talents to emerge in the class
or school. Within this rich environment we are carrying out a study
that is designed to demonstrate the effects of extensive professional
development work with teachers, collaboration with artists and community
resources and arts infused instruction on selected outcomes.
Vision
We aspire to create practices and skill sets that
are sustainable and are transformative for teachers, classrooms, school,
and districts.
History and Affiliations
Funding is generously provided by the Barthelmes
Foundation of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Albert and Mrs. Hete Barthelmes were
Tulsa residents, having immigrated from Germany just before the second
world war. They were great lovers of the arts and during their lives
were substantial supporters of many of Tulsa’s cultural organizations,
including the Tulsa Philharmonic, the Tulsa Youth Symphony and the Tulsa
Opera.
The Foundation commenced its philanthropic endeavors in April of 2000.
It is through their generosity and through the visionary management of
the Foundation’s Director, Mr. Joseph L. Hull that this Project was
begun.
