NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM

Would you like to do some of our art activities with your child at home?  Here is how:

K-1st:

We are making scribble dabble projects this week.  Try this at home -  tape bits of masking tape on paper, then color the entire page with lines or scribbling loops.  Take the tape off and voila!

2nd-3rd:

We are making torn paper scarecrows this week.  Take scraps of construction paper and tear out the scarecrow's body and clothing.  Assemble and glue the scarecrow on a large sheet (12" x 18").

4th:

We are reinforcing what we've learned while reading Sarah Plain and Tall.  Try this at home - read a book with your child and have them to design a new book cover for the story.  Pick a scene from the book that your child believes to be most important or interesting.  Don't forget to name your child as illustrator on the new book cover.

5th:

We are investigating contrasting colors.  Pick six colors of scrap construction paper.  Place the colors on top of each other, one pair at a time.  Which colors are the best pairs?  Which colors are the least contrasting pairs?
