Ms. Debbie Hurst
|
|
Coach Hurst has taught and coached at Rogers for 23 years. When she graduated from Rogers in 1980, she told her coach she would come back here and coach and she did. She was player of the year in the city in 1980 and coach of the year in 1990. She said she didn't believe anyone else has ever been given both. Coach Hurst thinks that is a record she will always hold because that award was given by the Tulsa Tribune. The thing she is most proud of is her nephews. The oldest one is Jordan Hurst and he plays basketball at Brown Mackey Jr. College in Salina, KS. The youngest one is Josh Hurst and he is a ninth grader in Wagoner, OK. He is the point guard for his team. He is also the only ninth grader to be moved to the highest math class they offer. They both want to be a teacher and a coach and she believes that is the biggest compliment she could ever receive. |
