What: H1N1 Vaccine Will Be Available at District Schools

Tulsa Public Schools is making available the H1N1 vaccine free of charge. Nineteen schools have been approved by the Tulsa Health Department to receive the vaccine. The schools are being divided into three groups. Dates for the second and third groups will be announced by TPS once the health department informs the district.

Group 1:  Cooper Elementary, November 3, 9 a.m.-12 noon; East Central, November 4, 9 a.m.-12 noon; Jackson Elementary, November 5, 9 a.m.-12 noon.

Group 2: Bell, Memorial, Skelly and Wright.

Group 3: Academy Central, Central, Cleveland, Edison MS, Edison HS, Hamilton, Kipp, McLain, Newcomer, Patrick Henry, Rogers and Whitney.

Vaccinations are only available for enrolled students and employed staff of the selected sites.  Students aged nine or younger will require a second vaccination dose no earlier than 28 days after the first.  The health department does not plan on providing the second dose at the school site.  Parents will be responsible for acquiring the second dose either at the health department's physical offices or at another vaccination site.

Consent forms from the health department and TPS are available for download at www.tulsaschools.org and will be sent home with students prior to each vaccination date.  Both consent forms are required to receive the vaccination.
