Cafeteria

The cafeteria at Thoreau has three methods to serve its students.

bulletThe main lunch line is the most popular choice.  Using tasty recipes that follow state and federal guidelines for nutrition, the staff prepares four to five entrees and several vegetables, fruits, juices and milk.  The self-serve mix and match concept allows that students to pick and choose the foods they like and want.  Children eligible for the lunch assistance program use this area.
bulletThe "Timberwolf Cafe" snack bar is a cash basis area that is stocked with canned and bottled juices, bottled spring water, ice cream, Little Debbies and baked chips, as well as pizza by the slice, chicken strips, pizza and french fries.
The Cafeteria area also maintains vending machines with a wide variety of beverages and snack items.
bulletThe cafeteria is a place for the children to get something to eat, enjoy being with their friends, and to take a break and relax in the middle of the day.
