The Thoreau Demonstration Academy Library Information Center combines print and non-print resources to integrate the curriculum and enhance life-long learning skills.

The goal of the Library Information Center is for all children to achieve the ability to locate, interpret and utilize resources to develop their information literacy skills.  The information literacy skills taught to students will support the P.A.S.S. objectives for information literacy and core subject areas.  Tools that will accomplish this goal include computers with Internet access, on-line databases and encyclopedias, CD-ROM databases, multi-media encyclopedias, and various other computer programs, Microsoft Office Suite, reference and non-fiction books as well as fiction books and magazines for pleasure reading.

Book Check-out: All library materials removed from the library must be checked out. All books should be returned to the library on or before the date stamped.
Over-due Books: A fine of 5¢ per day will be charged for late books. Weekends, holidays, or any day school is not in session are not included in the fine calculation.
Overnight Books: Magazines and some reference books may be checked out overnight. These books are due back in the library the next day before TRIBES . A fine of 25 cents per day will be charged for late overnight books.
Computers: The library currently has 32 computers available for student use.  All computers have Microsoft Office Suite and Internet access.
