TV Room Procedures

General TV Room Guidelines

Cables on the floor cannot endure being stepped on please avoid walking on these cables.  It is easy to break the strands of copper, which stretch through these cables. The larger the cable, the more individual copper strands, the better the possibility of breakage by stepping on them.

No eating or drinking in the Video Control Room or Sound Booth will be allowed.

Always turn lighting instruments off before moving them. The possibility of shocks and other electrical hazards are real.

Professional behavior on a shoot is expected.  Treat equipment and others with respect.

On location, remember to tape cables down with gaffers tape where such cables run across a traffic area. Having someone trip on a cable cannot only cause harm to that person but can bring down equipment on others.

Be neat with props, cables and sets. Always wrap items properly and return them to their original storage area.

In the studio, always return the equipment to its original position, settings, condition, etc. when wrapping the shoot. This provides a regular “neutral” position for the next crew and cuts down on simple problems caused by things out of place and not noticed.

When your job is finished after a shoot help someone else wrap his or her equipment. The crew is not dismissed until everything is properly wrapped.

On location shoots be especially careful to put things back where they belong, pick everything up, and clean up any mess. If we do not leave the area exactly the way we found it we will not be asked back.

Last but definitely not least, if anything is broken while you are working with it or you find something that is not working properly; tell me immediately. The quicker we fix it the fewer problems it creates.

These guidelines are designed to make working in the Video Studio easier and safer for everyone. Individuals who consistently disregard these guidelines will be asked to leave and will lose crew privileges (or forfeit their place on the crew) not be allowed back. This can make it very difficult to complete your assignments in this and other production courses.
