Inquiry Procedures

(Groups of 2 or more)

  1. Working within your assigned role, complete the inquiry, following all rubric guidelines.

  2. Every group member must actively participate in all stages of the inquiry development. Individual grades will be reduced for lack of participation.

  3. While working on an Inquiry, the rubric and pertinent notes must be present.

  4. Speak so that only the people at your table can hear you.

 

Entry Procedures

  1. Come to class prepared daily according to agenda with all books, supplies, and pencils.

  2. Quietly line up at the door with supplies in hand.

  3. Enter room and be greeted by the teacher.

  4. Sharpen pencils, greet learning club, place supplies beneath your chair, and quietly begin task on overhead or white board.

 

Assignment Procedures

  1. In order to receive full credit, remember the 3 C’s:

    Complete

    Correct

    Comprehensive

  2. All assignments must be typed or written neatly in pencil or blue or black pen. No markers or colored pencils on written assignments.

  3. Include first and last name in order to receive credit.

  4. Record all due dates in your agenda book and refer to them often.

  5. Turn in all assignments on the due date. Late assignments will receive partial credit (see chart below):

    2 or more days late

    No credit will be given

     

     

     

  6. A Zero Sheet must be completed for each missing assignment. Student will call parent to inform of each zero sheet turned in that day.

Direct Instruction Procedures

  1. When your table is called, collect any necessary materials and move quietly to the seminar area.

  2. Use S.L.A.N.T:

    Sit Up

    Lean forward

    Actively listen

    Nod

    Track the speaker

  3. Take concise notes.

  4. Ask appropriate questions during the appropriate time.

  5. Quietly return to your seat when called.

 

Restroom Procedures

  1. Restroom breaks may not be taken during testing, direct instruction, or presentations.

  2. Fill out your agenda book and obtain teacher signature.

  3. Remember the 3 B’s:

BE QUICK (YOU ONLY HAVE 2 MINUTES)

BE CLEAN

BE QUIET

 

 

 

Tardy Policy

  1. Arrival in class one minute after the scheduled time is considered a tardy.

  2. All tardies will be recorded on the Tardy Sheet

  3. Tardy offenses will follow the sequence below:

Tardy 1: Verbal Warning

Tardy 2: Notify parents

Tardy 3: Summons issued and parent notification

Tardy 4&5: Summons issued and parent notification

Tardy 6: Referral issued and parent notification

 

 

Classroom Visitor Procedures

  1. When visitors come to the room, continue working until addressed.
  2. When a question is posed to you, stand when addressed, and politely answer to the best of your ability.
  3. Continue with the task at hand.

 

Absence Work Procedures

  1. Go to www.tulsaschools.org/thoreau to retrieve the assignments for the days you missed. Click on the hyperlink for each of your teachers to access the weekly agenda.

  2. When you return, check your agenda and the absent folder(s) for the day(s) you were absent to see what you missed. This is your responsibility.

  3. You will be given one day for everyday that you were absent to turn in your missed assignments. If an assignment was due on the date of your absence, it is due on the day you return to school.

  4. Check with the teacher to confirm that you have all needed assignments after following the above.

Exit Procedures

  1. Clean up the work area and the floor around your table. If necessary, return supplies to the designated area.

  2. Return basket, placemat, and plants to original condition.

  3. Gather all belongings and sit quietly until your Learning Club is called.

  4. When your Learning Club is called, push in your chair and safely exit the room.

 

Procedure for Handing in Papers

1. Holes on the left side of the paper

2. Name, title and date in top space

3. Check for complete, correct and comprehensive content.

4. Peer edit and sign

5. Place in box, right side up
