PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

2006-2007 is going to be a year of change for Webster High School. Although some things are anchored in tradition such as students committing the creed to memory, the crowning of Miss Daniel Webster, or the memorializing of our war losses with the Red Bud Trail, some things also change with the times. This year will bring the advent of a Freshman Academy and a focus on making school work relevant to post high school careers.

The Freshman Academy will be a focus on career orientation and personal choices in getting to the perfect career for the individual. All freshmen are taking the same foundation course in Leadership. This course will be a fun and informative look into what talents and attributes lead to a complimentary career. It will delve into each person’s responsibility to maintain their share in our community and to strive for the best they can for themselves and their families. It should serve to point out the requirements for experiencing success in school and beyond. Upper classmen will also be focusing on their career futures when they meet with their Teacher Advisors. Although it took a lot of thought this new program will be called Teachers as Advisors and our hope is that small groups of students can rely on one advisor to help them meet their goals in life.

Please take each day of your school career as a step toward your life’s calling. If you do that with determination and the necessary self-discipline you will find that you achieve your aspirations much more quickly than you would without a plan or purpose. Good luck this year and come by the principal’s office to introduce yourself if you haven’t already done so.
