Lieutenant Colonel George E. Giffin was born 27 May 1952 in Great Falls, Montana. His civilian education includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1974 and a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University in 1990.

His military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Mechanical Maintenance Officer Course, Rotary Wing Flight School, Aircraft Maintenance Officer Technician Course, Army Aviation Safety Course, Transportation Officer Advance Course, and the Command and General Staff College.

Colonel Giffin's key assignments include: Platoon Leader/Supply Officer, 225th Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company, and Battalion S-2/3, 100th Supply and Service Battalion, Ft Sill, Oklahoma, 1975-1978; Service Platoon Commander, Aviation Company, and Production Control Officer, E Company, 5th Aviation Battalion Provisional, Ft Polk, Louisiana, 1979-1982; Aircraft Maintenance Officer, 172nd Aviation Detachment, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Ft Greely, Alaska, 1983-1986; Chief, Maintenance Branch, Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, First U.S. Army, Ft Meade, Maryland, 1986-1989; Company Commander, B Company 3rd of 501st Aviation Regiment (AVIM), 194th Maintenance Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea, 1990-1991; Chief, Investigations Division, U.S. Army Safety Center, Ft Rucker, Alabama, 1991-1993; Deputy Director, Directorate of Training and Operations and Director, Department of Aviation Trades Training of the U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School, Ft. Eustis, Virginia, 1993-1995. Colonel Giffin retired from the Army from Ft. Eustis, Virginia the end of June 1995. Presently, Colonel Giffin is the Senior Army Instructor for the Daniel Webster High School JROTC program in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Colonel Giffin’s awards and decorations include the Senior Army Aviator Badge, the Legion of Merit, the Meritious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal and the Over Seas Ribbon with the Bronze Arabic numeral two.

Colonel Giffin is married to the former Brenda Word from Arnett, Oklahoma. Their daughter, Tina, is an elementary school teacher in Rippley, Oklahoma and their son, Corey, is a Registered Respiratory Therapist at the hospital in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
