Counselor's Corner

It is hard to believe that another school year has come to an end!  I do not know where the school year goes.  All our “águilas” have flown from the nest for the summer.  Our fifth grade students have been promoted to middle school and we wish them well.  This summer may the children’s lives be enriched with play, rest, special time with family and friends, volunteer work, and reading and participation in the summer reading program with the Tulsa City Library.

Zarrow is a wonderful school to be.  At this time of year appreciation and thank you's are in order to all the people who make Zarrow an enriching, nurturing, and safe environment for lots of learning to take place.

Thank you to Robin Postier, our principal, for her steadfast leadership, her constant love of the children, and the high standards she promotes for Spanish speaking, quality learning and the development of creative thinking in our students.

Thank you to our teachers and teacher partners who dedicate their lives to prepare our children to be academically prepared to go out in the world.  They work to ready the children for the next grade.  In addition, they emphasize character building and encourage children to be kind and supportive of each other.

Thank you to all our staff.  The front office is our official greeters of the school and they do a wonderful job making visitors feel welcome.  The health clerk and nurse tend lovingly to the health needs of the children and hold their hand when they are hurt with a bruised knee or do not feel well.  Our custodial staff takes pride in the maintenance and cleanliness of our building.  The cafeteria staff provides nutritional meals that are in keeping with our designation as “A School for Healthy Lifestyles”.   Our Before and After Care staff provide an environment that is safe for the children.

Thank you to our parents who support learning and who contribute so much in volunteer hours.  It sends chills through me every time I think how much our parents do whether for the faculty, raising a lot of money through our fundraisers, providing enrichment for the children through programs like Junior Great Books. You are awesome and we appreciate every thing you do for the school and for the children.

Thank you to our students!  That is why we are all here and why we do what we do.

Madison Murphy stopped me in the hall yesterday and said, “Mrs. Butler, I love being a first grader.  I wish I could be a first grader forever”!  Her statement really captures the feeling of many Zarrow “águilas”.

I am grateful to be apart of all the good things at Zarrow!

Happy Summer!

Please e-mail me your tips and your questions to:  butlean@tulsaschools.org.  I'd like the "Counselor's Corner" to reflect your parental concerns.
